artryack makiji - pronounced "Atoryack Makiji"
With the concept of "Keeping Tradition Close",
I add new perspectives to techniques that have been passed down through generations,
and to the many things and ideas that have long been a part of our lives.
I imagine and create things to bring into our lives today.
What I aim for is not to follow trends,
but to create things that make you think,
" I want to keep wearing this for a long time. "
I love colors.
I love letters and words.
And I love creating.
In each piece, I layer the memory held within its materials,
the passion of its maker,
and my own sense of what I love as I live in the present.
Rather than treating tradition as something precious to be put on display,
I want to bring the extraordinary into the everyday.
I am extremely shy,
awkward around people,
and deeply introverted.
This is simply who I am,
quietly struggling and making my way through life
somewhere in a corner of Japan.
I hope that what I create reaches you,
wherever you may be in this world.
